Mission 10 – Bukit Batu Putih | footprintsKL

Bukit Batu Putih – Mission 10

Finally, our 10th mission video is ready and it has been long overdue! Bukit Batu Putih is awesome and maybe even our favorite hiking spot so far!

We collected almost 5 full bags of trash in this mission! *gasp* We did not expect a hidden gem like this could be so trashed. like reaaaally trashed. It’s heartwrenching to see 🙁

This place is perfect for camping and hiking, but if we keep trashing it like this, it’ll only be another dump site.

We all can make a difference. Be the change. Make it a thing, make it a habit. Always, always throw your trash responsibly. No matter how big or how small your trash is. Without further ado, we present you, Bukit Batu Putih.

Also make sure to have a look at our previous missions! 🙂

Mission 9 – Bukit Gasing | footprintsKL

Bukit Gasing – Mission 9

Check out our video for our final mission in 2017 at Bukit Gasing and don’t forget to spread our cause to all nature lovers out there!

We went to Bukit Gasing, the place where it all started 1 year ago. The place is not too trashed as comapred to other locations we been to. However, it is still too much. A big thanks to all the helpers that came out to support us on that day!

Mission 8 – Sungai Congkak | footprintsKL

Sungai Congkak - Mission 8

Sungai Congkak was short and alot!

That’s the theme for our 8th Mission, at Sg. Congkak. Although it’s not a “real” trekking / hiking spot (as it is fairly developed by Tourism Selangor, with tarred road and camping / BBQ spots along the river side) we still spot trash here and there with our eagle eyes! Especially in the river itself, we found a lot of food container, old rusty bbq grills, plastic. Especially plastic. Not good, people.

We ended up with 4 trash bags! Well, that’t a lot considering Sg. Congkak has it’s own “maintenance team”

Moral of the story is, as long as we keep throwing our trash irresponsibly, no amount of maintenance team can help to clean up the place ENTIRELY. Now that’s a vicious cycle.

OK, enough lecturing. Take a moment to watch our short and shaky *we lost our gimbal. Cryyyyyyy* journey!

Mission 7 – Bukit Jugra/ JugraHill | footprintsKL

Bukit Jugra

Mission 7 Bukit Jugra – We’re at it again (this time around with a new tune)!

Bukit Jugra is located in the state of Selangor, a little less than 1 hour from Kuala Lumpur. It’s famous for its beautiful hilltop view, jungle trail and paragliding!

It’s been an adventure for us! We took wrong turns, got lost, trespassed forbidden places (accidentally of course), suffered from a mild heat wave, were attacked by vicious wild mosquitoes, got into a gang fight with a group of monkeys and yet we made it to the peak! The view was breathtaking and it was well worth it!

This time around we collected almost 5 full bags which is too much for such a nice place with amazing view (actually it”s always too much). Oh and we lost our gimbal at the peak as well while fighting with the monkeys that terrorized our trash bags..

We would like to thank all the volunteers once again for the time and energy given!

Mission 6 – Bukit Saga / Saga Hill | footprintsKL

Mission 6 - Bukit Saga

Mission 6 took us to Bukit Saga. It was a beautiful day and – as always – great team effort (even though only the 4 of us this time). The place is quite easily accessible and not too difficult to master.

We did not have the time to visit the waterfall (which was our initial plan). and only made it to the peak. At the peak you will find a cool outdoor gym and other small activities to drain that last bit of energy left in you. Cool thing: they have free drinking water up there – just what you need after a long hike.

We were happy to see that the place was not as trashed, compared to other spots we visited. Yet, any trash is still too much trash.

Cause at the end of the day we will leave nothing but footprints!

Mission 5 – Sungai Lepoh Waterfalls | footprintsKL

Sungai Lepoh

Mission 5 – Sungai Lepoh

Our mission in Sungai Lepoh was one of the more challenging ones. It was a steep hike at times and the amount of trash was overwhelming. We collected a total of 4 full bags this time around!

Honestly, we were surprised to see how badly trashed this palce is at points, considering that it is rather remote. It seems people are dumping whole trash bags (household waste) in the middle of the jungle. Moreover, as they do not have any trash bins along the way or at the waterfall, inconsiderate hikers conveniently dispose of their trash along the way.

Hike-wise we had a lot of fun and adventure. Up and down, the journey took us almost 6 hours (including picking trash and some chilling by the falls, of course)! And even though the place still requires some cleaning here and there, we did make visible progress!

First junior member!

And last but not least a big thanks to our volunteers! Once more, we welcomed new recruits including our very first junior member! He’s the only one who was able to jump around the whole trip even (or especially) when the grown-ups were exhausted. Superboy he is!

Mission 4 – Kanching Waterfalls | footprintsKL

Kanching Waterfalls

On our fourth mission we chose to visit beautiful Kanching Waterfalls. The challenge here was not necessarily only the ignorance of people littering but also the monkeys that scatter the trash all over the place hoping to find food left-overs. We had to go deep into the bushes to pick some of the trash.

Because this place is easily accessible, there was an alarming amount of trash that we collected. 5 full trash bags! And we could’ve collected even more!

It seems that people put a lot of effort to throw their garbage. We suggest to rather use that energy to walk to the nearest bin and throw your trash where it belongs… After all, Kanching Waterfalls is supposed to be a family outing spot surrounded by lush greenery and pretty waterfalls. Unfortunately, however, some spots look more like a dumpster place. It’s a sad sight to see. 🙁

Mission 3 – Sungai Chilling Waterfalls | footprintsKL

Sungai Chilling footprintsKL

Our third mission brought us to the beautiful waterfalls of Sungai Chilling. Not only are we improving the art of trash-picking but we are also making progress with the video taking and editing (we received some pro tips of one of our newest helpers).

We were glad to see that Sungai Chilling was not as trashed as expected. Most of the trash we found was on the first few hundred meters. Once we reached the jungle and river there was not that much trash anymore. That’s great!

This doesn’t mean, however, that we did not collect any trash… We still filled 3 bags of trash on our at Sungai Chilling. Just because we expected worst doesn’t mean that this is a good result. Three bags is still way too much! As you can see, our crew grew to six this time! Word spreads and we are happy to welcome all the additional members to the footprintsKL crew!

Mission 2 – Bukit Batu Chondong | footprintsKL

Bukit Batu Chondong

Yeap, it’s finally here. Check out the video of our second Mission at Bukit Batu Chondong. Even though, we didn’t find the place as trashed as Bukit Gasing, we managed to collect quite some “left-behinds” along the way.

It’s been a short fun hike (around 45 minutes including collecting trash). When we finally reached the top, we were rewarded with a beautiful view at the top. And we even made a new “friend” – Thunder the Cat. He did not want to come back with us, though.

Mission 1 – Bukit Gasing | footprintsKL

Mission 1 Bukit Gasing

It’s official! We have recently launched our Mission 1 of #TrashFreeNature starting with Bukit Gasing. We must say, we did not expect to collect so much trash in our first go – unfortunately we did :(.

But that’s what we’re here for, after all! Cleaning up those beautiful places and more importantly create awareness so others join in the movement!

It’s all fresh and new to us so without further ado, here’s our very first short video of our very first mission (please excuse the quality, we’re getting better).
